ABOUT: Unknown Theater is dedicated to making theater an integrated and necessary part of people’s lives -- providing regular opportunities for the members of our diverse Los Angeles community to come together, appreciate one another, and search for meaning together.
The 5 primary objectives of the Unknown Theater are:
- To produce uniquely theatrical events -- communal experiences shared equally by the actors and the audience.
- To create "The 5th Wall" to inject theater into the modern urban ritual, making theater an accessible, integrated, and significant part of people's lives.
- To build and support programs to involve the community, young and old, in most every step of our creative process.
- To create unusual opportunities for the artists of Los Angeles by building relationships and openly collaborating with our neighbor artists.
- To gather and support a disciplined and inclusive ensemble of artists and administrators, a powerful and long-lasting infrastructure, which will make our goals a reality.
The 5th Wall:
Because Unknown Theater is dedicated to making theater a regular part of people’s lives, we have created The 5th Wall as a place where social-life and creativity meet. We want to tear down the imaginary barrier between the theater and rest of the community. Join us in this Unknown no-man's-land between art and celebration.
Whether you currently consider yourself a “theater-goer” or not, you are going to love life on the other side of The 5th Wall:

Following each Main Event, The 5th Wall takes over the space and the stage explodes in a stunning array of smaller productions – all based around the themes of the Main Event. Come for the Main Event, and stay afterwards to continue the journey. Or come after the show, for The 5th Wall, and be inspired to return for the Main Event.
