The New LATC

ABOUT: The Latino Theater Company became the new operators of the Los Angeles Theatre Center located in the historic core of downtown Los Angeles in January 2006. After over 20 years of exploring the Latino experience in bold, contemporary terms, the Latino Theater Company acknowledges and embraces the New Los Angeles; a Los Angeles that is one of the most diverse cities in the world. Our goal is to create a space that reflects this rich diversity.

The new vibrant LATC will be a microcosm of the new Los Angeles; a destination center for those pursuing artistic excellence; a laboratory where both tradition and innovation are honored and honed. The LATC theatre programming will capture the creative vitality that comes from people telling their own stories and digging deep into their own traditions to address important issues of our day. The planned Summer Conservatory will pass these skills and experiences to young and emerging artists. Together the theatre, conservatory, museum, cafe and store will create a space amidst the excitement of downtown Los Angeles; a space where the convergence of people, cultures and ideas give birth to our future.

It's a great time to live in Los Angeles! Please join as at the new LATC on Spring Street as we create a multi-disciplinary, cultural arts center where diversity is not the exception but the rule.

THE SPACE: The Los Angeles Theatre Center (LATC) is an 80,000 square foot, four-theater multi-use complex comprised of a 490-seat, modified thrust theater (the Tom Bradley Theater), a 320-seat "arena style" thrust stage, a 296-seat proscenium theater and an 89-seat flexible box theater. The complex also includes an additional studio performance space, two rehearsal rooms, a meeting room, men's and women's dressing rooms complete with bathrooms and showers, a costume shop, a scenery shop, and a five-story office tower -- all connected to a two-story, marble clad grand lobby topped by the largest stained glass ceiling in the western United States. LATC is located in downtown's Spring Street Historic District and is included on the National Register of Historic Places.
