Saturday Night at the Palace examines the events leading up to a racially motivated crime in the volatile Gauteng Region of South Africa seven years before the official end of apartheid.
In the five years since its inception, Furious Theatre Company has opened 13 productions, including six U.S. Premieres, four Los Angeles Premieres and, in 2007, the company’s first World Premiere, An Impending Rupture of the Belly by recently named Furious resident playwright, Matt Pelfrey. This body of work has garnered the company an impressive array of nominations and awards, including three Los Angeles Drama Critic’s Circle Awards (production, direction, writing), six NAACP Theatre Award nominations (winner Best Supporting Actor, Best Director), three LA Weekly Award nominations (winner Best Playwright), The Pasadena Arts Councils' Gold Crown Award, a special Debut Award from Back Stage West and numerous critic's picks from the Los Angeles media.
