EL CID: Silverlake, CA. If you have not been to El Cid for the then its high time you head on over. Located in Silverlake, El Cid has become an institution. Originally built in 1900 by D.W.Griffith, it was used to screen the controversial and famous movie “Birth of a Nation,” which opened in 1915 and was the first twelve reel motion picture to set an all time box office record.
In 1961, after many incarnations, El Cid Restaurant was born, and the building was converted into an authentic replica of the 16th century Spanish tavern. The huge exterior courtyard with gardens and fountains forms an unusual backdrop to the exciting dinner shows which feature the finest Flamenco dancers, singers and guitarists on an intimate stage. El Cid Flamenco offers a romantic blend of dining, history and entertainment.
