Texas Rep presents the award-winning musical based on the 1967 film of the same name, Thoroughly Modern Millie tells the story of a small-town girl, Millie Dillmount, who comes to New York City to marry for money instead of love - a thoroughly modern aim in 1922, when women were just entering the workforce. Millie soon begins to take to delight in the flapper lifestyle, but problems arise when she checks into a hotel owned by the leader of a white slavery ring in China.
Filled with frisky flappers, dashing leading men and a dragon-lady of a villainess audiences will love to hate, Thoroughly Modern Millie is a perfectly constructed high-spirited musical romp that will have the audience dancing the Charleston - a perfect opener to The Texas Rep's 5th season! Rachael Logue, who audiences will remember from last summer’s Smoke on the Mountain returns to play the playful, energetic and undeniable modern Millie Dillmount, and is supported by an always-talented cast from Houston’s Uptown Classic Theatre.
