Adrift in a night of Choral-Jazz-Blues-infusion - AFRICA! Bayou City Women's Chorus will perform "Strange Fruit" as made famous by Billy Holiday, selections from The Color Purple, and the Texas Premiere of President Obama's 2008 election victory speech set to music as just part of the lineup. This night will give you goosebumps and leave you inspired. You will not want to miss this unbelievable evening of music.

This Concert will be a celebration of the many different styles and traditions of African music. The first portion will be songs of rhythm and freedom from South Africa and Zimbabwe to Kenya and the Caribbean. The second half will focus on the theme of the African American experience with jazz and blues influenced pieces like "Strange Fruit," and "Rock-A My Soul." We will also visit Broadway with such inspired pieces as "Miss Celie's Blues" from The Color Purple and "I Know Where I've Been" from Hairspray.
