Nova Arts Project does more than produce great work like the recently opened Love, Loves a Pornographer at the Barnvelder Arts Complex. They are working to create a more vibrant theatre community in Houston. Being community driven, Nova seeks out opportunities to build relationships with local arts and community development focused organizations. Looking to give back to the arts, Nova Arts Project formed the Nova Youth Shakespeare Project. Through partnerships with area schools, Nova uses a highly motivated company of high school actors to mount abbreviated productions of Shakespearian plays for middle school children.

There is a particular emphasis on at risk students and junior high schools within urban settings. The High school students, with the support and guidance of Nova company members, facilitate a series of workshops in which the younger students write and perform their own version of the Shakespearian play they saw performed.
