In collaboration with Inprint, Musiqa presents " the first of its 2009-10 subscription concerts as part of the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts' "Uniquely Houston" series. The program features Jonathan Harvey's The Riot, Luciano Berio's O King, written in memory of Martin Luther King, George Perle's Critical Moments 2, Joseph Schwanter's Velocities and Pierre Jalbert�s L�il �coute, performed live to a film by Jean Detheux.
Author Mat Johnson will also read a new work of fiction. Performers include Karol Bennett, soprano; Aralee Dorough, flute; Thomas LeGrand, bass clarinet; Patrick Moore, cello; Tali Morgulis, piano; Sean Wang, violin; Rod Waters, piano; and Blake Wilkins, percussion. Brett Mitchell, Assistant Conductor of the Houston Symphony, conducts.
