On September 13, 2008 Hurricane Ike slammed into the Galveston coast and was the third most destructive Hurricane to ever hit the United States.
The cost of the storm has reached into the billions of dollars and caused extensive damage in Texas.
Hurricane Ike has had a significant impact on the arts community along the Gulf coast resulting in structural damage to many venues as well as
severe monetary loss from canceled performances and rescheduling. Most entertainment companies understand how difficult it is to maintain the
ability to generate capital in the best of times, much less in the face of a disaster. To ease some of this pressure on arts organizations and
to help in the rebuilding process, StubDog.com has announced its partnership with the Houston Arts Alliance in an effort to raise funds for the
Houston Arts Community.
From November 12 - December 12, 2008, StubDog will donate half of its profits to the Hurricane Ike Arts Relief Fund for all tickets sold in
Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston and Los Angeles. $2 from every ticket sold, half of our profits, will be donated directly to the Hurricane Ike Arts
Relief Fund. The fund was set up to help the local arts community in Houston get back on their feet.
In regards to potential companies listing tickets on StubDog, this is what it means for you. Essentially, your tickets being available on StubDog
will directly benefit their campaign to raise money for this cause. Every ticket sold on StubDog.com will generate much needed revenue for these
arts organizations.
Organizations can participate in two ways.
- As a ticket supplier, simply continuing to offer tickets on StubDog creates opportunities for them to donate $2 for every ticket sold to
this fund. Just by offering tickets on StubDog, you will have a chance to help make a difference.
- They are also giving organizations the opportunity to donate tickets directly to the Hurricane Ike Arts Relief Fund. If sold, the entire ticket amount, plus their contribution of $2, would be donated. These tickets can be donated voluntarily for this fundraiser by contacting a StubDog representative either by phone or email. Simply state the date(s) and amount of tickets you wish to donate. However, ticket suppliers are under no obligation to do so. By offering these tickets, your company will be added as a donor on the fundraiser information page as well as having your event highlighted by adding a small logo on your event thumbnail.
In these difficult economic times it is refreshing to see companies giving back and supporting various causes. With an already rock bottom price on
event tickets you will not only be supporting the show you attend, but will be helping to support an arts community as a whole. These types of
companies set themselves apart.
More and more companies are doing business in a more socially responsible manner that will only create opportunity for others. The benefits can prove
far reaching in building lasting relationships with consumers and clients alike while at the same time improving the community.
The Houston Arts Alliance was set up to "advance the nonprofit arts industry in Greater Houston, thus contributing to enhance the region's quality of
life, economic competitiveness and attractiveness as a tourist destination." For more information about HAA and the Hurricane Ike Arts Relief Fund
