At the summer break you might quickly run out of ideas for an entertainment suitable for your little ones. If your child didn’t go to the summer camp, the blocks and puzzles got unbelievably boring after a week of well air conditioned game and you’d like to avoid seeing him/her in front of the newer, better, digitalized TV all the time – there’s a resolution.
You can still make it to the Children’s Hilltop Festival (21-24 July)
Today and tomorrow at Miller Outdoor Theatre all the three billy goats in Three Billy Goats Gruff want to do is get across the bridge so they can eat the grass on the other side, but there’s a grumbly, grouchy, bully of a Troll under the bridge who is determined not to let them pass. A rollicking musical production by Kevin M. Reese, directed by Alex Gardner.
On July 24, 11 a.m. the new adaptation brings to life Alice, White Rabbit, Mad Hatter, Queen of Hearts, Caterpillar, Dormouse, Doorman―and it is even narrated by Lewis Carroll, himself. Lots of fun, clever word play as Alice discovers that a land without rules and logic is not really a Wonderland at all. A very "child-friendly" musical adaptation that is perfect for the whole family. Adapted and directed by Ed Muth Alice in Wonderland @ Miller Outdoor Theatre, where performances are always free. Pack a picnic basket, a blanket or lawn chair to enjoy the performance from the hill, or sit in the brand new seats under the canopy.
ACE Theatre presents You're a Good Man Charlie Brown, derived from Charles M. Schulz's comic strip Peanuts and directed by Andrew Adams. This musical became one of Off Broadway's biggest successes and remains popular with theatres all over the country still today. The time of the action is an average day in the life of Charlie Brown. It really is just that, a day made up of little moments picked from all the days of Charlie Brown, from Valentine's Day to the baseball season, from wild optimism to utter despair, all mixed in with the lives of his friends (both human and non-human) and strung together on the string of a single day, from bright uncertain morning to hopeful starlit evening. The 1999 revival of Charlie Brown won two Tony Awards and three Drama Desk Awards. Come have a happy day with the Peanuts gang @ ACE Theatre (17011 Bamwood)
