For all LA-foodies, those
who like to try something new every day and even the ones who like to
just watch others with their mouths full of cupcakes, Drink:Eat:Play organizes
their food and drink tasting parties that are always getting a full house
due to unheard of range of delicacy genres (from a sloppy joe to chaats,
from fizzy lemonade to sake). The home to most of the indoor events is
Renaissance Hollywood Hotel, the outdoors events are held in various locations.
The entertainment @ the event sites is usually provided by one to few
tribute bands, but it might happen you’ll see Derek Hughes himself, the
actor, comedian & magician featured on NBC, MTV & HBO.
Their past and very successful events include LA cupcake challenge (March
2009) where the best cupcake bakeries were squaring off in attempt of
becoming the winner in the mouths of the public. Sponsored by CozmoCard,
the event featured LAs best mini-cupcakes. The public and a panel of celebrity
judges each voted on their favorite cupcakes, culminating in the crowning
of LAs best traditional and non-traditional cupcakes.
The one-of-a-kind BBQ extravaganza (May 2009) showcasing the best BBQ
pitmasters from around the country, a beer garden, and live entertainment
featuring a Johnny Cash cover band, Tom Petty Cover band, southern rock,
and various other acts. The event brought Southside from Texas, LC's from
Kansas City, Memphis BBQ, Texas Thunder, Chicago BBQ Company, and local
favorites.
How good it is to be a kid, and that there‘s no reason to stop eating
like one, we could realize this by taking a part in The Gourmet 5 Year
Old Birthday Party (May 2009). The best of comfort food as LAs best caterers
and restaurants was served to appeal to your childhood sensibilities and
gourmet palate. Think mac-n-cheese with lobster, ravioli with pumpkin,
sloppy joes made from kobe beef. Simply, your standard five year old birthday:
really good food, lots of sweets, and plenty of juice (in our case, wine).
The Gourmet 5 Year Old Party was a tremendous success, thanks to the hundreds
of attending guests, delicious foods offered and raved about wines. The
one question on everyone’s mind: what amazing party will Drink:Eat:Play
throw next?
Yes! There’s more! Upcoming events from Drink:Eat:Play are:
On July 26th leave your diet at home and get ready to mix & mingle with LA’s best pastry chefs, bakeries and chocolatiers. Dessert Decadence will feature everything from the twist on childhood favorites to more contemporary takes on what’s the best part of a meal. Can you think of the better way to end the weekend? If not – come to The Renaissance Hollywood Hotel on July 26, 2009 5:00 PM and eat up on loads and loads of desserts in a good company.
Think: Nihonshu – 15-20% alcohol “rice wine” from Japan. Appealing? The LA Sake Festival will be a hybrid of LA Vegas vibe and Southern California’s largest sake tasting. Presented by SakeSocial.com & Drink:Eat:Play, the LA Sake Festival will play host to over 100 brands of sake, mixologists and classes. Attendees (21 and older) will have the opportunity to learn about different styles and varieties in addition to unlimited tastes. The event starts at 8:00PM on Saturday, August 15@ The Renaissance Hollywood Hotel.
If you, too, think there’s no better way of spending a hot summer Sunday afternoon than just sipping a cold cold beer – this event is for you. The OC Beer Festival will take place at scenic Irvine Lake, and will feature BBQ, In-n-Out, and some great 80s glam rock from Metal Shop. With so many great Orange County breweries, the OC shouldn't be limited to wine tasting and pairings -- it's 'bout time for OC to have it's own beer festival. The event will highlight Orange County's top breweries, as well as over 60 other domestic and international brands. The event begins at 2:00PM and ends at 5:00PM on Sunday, August 30 @ Irvine Lake, 4621 Santiago Canyon Road, Silverado, CA 92676. You must be 21 and years or older to attend this event.
