Have you ever thought about why Chihuahuas usually travel in a purse? To honor the little engines that can, PETCO is holding the 5th Annual Chihuahua Races National Finals in New York City, so if you think your pooch can best Cricket, the Regional Champ since 2005, be sure to register (online or at 8 a.m. on race day) for a spot in the Dallas Regional Races this Saturday. The Regional winner (along with its owner and a guest) will be flown to NYC to compete in the National Finals August 29. Races start at 9 a.m. at the Prestonwood PETCO, 5301 Belt Line Road, Suite 106.

Established and conducted by Dr. Diane Pomerance, certified Grief Recovery Specialist and SPCA of Texas volunteer, the SPCA of Texas' Pet Grief Counseling program offers comfort, guidance and support as well as tools that can help facilitate grief recovery. Telephone counseling is available by calling 214.461.5131. All calls are returned within 24 hours.The Pet Grief Counseling Support group meets the first Saturday of each month at 1:00 p.m. in Dallas at the SPCA of Texas headquarters in Conference Room 1.
