Founded in 2003, the NY league will bring their best players and a thirst for vengeance back to the banked track. The last time both teams came face to face was February 2011 when The Ri-Ettes won 132 to 106. Already this year, the Ri-Ettes have defeated San Diego’s Wildfires but then lost a hard-fought game to Colorado Springs’ Team Bionic. Highly esteemed flat-track derby skaters, OMG WTF and Bonnie Thunders played with Team Bionic and will be back to L.A. as part of Gotham Girls Roller Derby.
The Doll Factory, home of the L.A. Derby Dolls, is located in historic Filipinotown just outside of Downtown LA. The Doll Factory was voted Best Roller Derby Venue for 2011 in a poll conducted by the authoritative site, Derby Network News. The derby site said, "The unique Factory marries the early chaotic punk vibe of modern derby to professional-level production values perhaps more effectively than any venue in the sport."
L.A. Derby Dolls events offer a full range of entertainment off the track, with the Vendor Village featuring art, jewelry and clothes, food from Garage Pizza and a variety of food trucks, and various beverage choices - both alcoholic and non. The L.A. Derby Dolls are proud to be sponsored by Jack Daniel’s. Jack Daniel’s ready-to-drink bottles, PBR beer and various wines will be served by Alex’s Bar. L.A. Derby Dolls are also proud that Stila cosmetics have returned as a 2012 season partner and will be at all games treating our fans to complimentary beauty products, as well as our protection partner, S-One Helmet Company. There will be live musical entertainment at halftime on Saturday the 3rd and raffle tickets will be sold during the game for a wide selection of prizes.
Doors open at 6:00PM. Please bring your printed confirmation and valid ID to redeem tickets. General parking is available for $10 at City of Angels Medical Center, 1711 West Temple (near the intersection of Temple and Union), one block east of the Doll Factory. Please have your ID, and note that all concessions and most vendors accept cash only. Box office and Will Call will closes at the end of half time. No late entry admitted. The L.A. Derby Dolls are very happy to announce that our venue now is open to ALL AGES! Underage fans will finally be able to attend all Saturday evening league games, but alcohol sales remain for fans ages 21+ only with proper ID. All Saturday evening league games are a PG-13 event rating. Small personal cameras will also be allowed into the Doll Factory, so come and take pictures of your favorite skaters or with them! No personal photographers are allowed to shoot from track-side in the pink walkways at any time. All professional cameras will remain for press outlets only.
General Admission is standing room only.
VIP Admission will get you "unassigned" bleacher seating, access to the VIP Bar & Lounge, and indoor restrooms.
Both types of tickets provide you with good views of the action, however the earlier you get to the venue the better your spot for viewing.
